Sharmistha Gupta

Educationist, Ex-Principal, R&D Expert

Sharmistha brings to the helm in the education domain, freshness and vivacity that is as arresting as it is infectious. She has spent 30 years in key positions across a slew of branded and start-up schools in India (Shiv Nadar School, Sanskriti School, DPS, St Columba’s, Gyanshree School, Shri Ram Global School) and abroad (APG School in Bahrain for 11 years), straddling IGCSE, IB and CBSE curricula. Having successfully played leadership and administrative roles of Principal, Vice Principal and Head of School in several of these, and a training role at The Global Leadership & Education Foundation, she has been leveraging her experience as an Independent R&D Consultant to focus on school auditing, curriculum development, teacher training/ mentoring, pedagogical practice and life skills development. She understands the challenges of a school’s top management and always manages to make a difference to standards in educational execution, whether it be at a Senior School level or Middle School and Primary.

As an Advisory Board Member as well as an active R&D Head, Sharmistha has spent two years building the academic curricular foundations of a private start-up K 12 school in Bhubaneswar. Her illustrious career also includes stints of working with the differently abled, as well as the EWS category students and their parents.

She has visited and interacted with more than 50 schools across India, and some abroad, and obtained a helicopter view of India’s education system, various curricula, pedagogy and standards prevalent in the student and teaching community as well as resources being used and challenges being faced. She has run workshops with senior teachers to debate and discuss how academic syllabi can be supplemented with practical leadership building concepts. She has held workshops with students to understand their concerns about their future and inspired them to glean more from their educational journey.

Known for her meticulous planning, team building skills, engaging workshops, astute counselling and above all, her natural flair of engaging with people, Sharmistha goes about putting vision to work, and brings passion into every project she undertakes.

Upholding the ideology that every life is precious, AJF reaches out to people in need and distress and supports them. From providing free meals to the hungry, quality education to the poor, healthcare to the needy, livelihood to the downtrodden and shelter to the deserted, AJF tries to bring a qualitative change in the lives of people in distress. AJF has a dedicated team of volunteers who reach out to people far and wide with helping hands and a smile on their faces.
