Pramod Kulkarni

Social Entrepreneur, Founder - Sathi and Prerana

Pramod is a postgraduate in Statistics and an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Since 1984 he has been engaged in the development sector. He has worked on providing irrigation and benefited nearly 1000 families. He also ran a program to financially help merited and needy students for their graduation under his NGO, Prerana. Here again 1000 students were helped.

In 1998, he promoted Sathi, an NGO helping rehabilitate runaway street children who land up on railway platforms. Such children's parents are traced and if the homes are found to be suitable, the children are reunited. In two decades, nearly 99,000 children were reunited.

Earlier, he has worked for 11 years with Pradan, a non-government non-profit working with India's rural poor to help them emerge from poverty and lead a life of dignity.

Now at 67, he is retired, and teaching Maths on a voluntary basis to around 100 Government school students helping them successfully qualify in competitive exams and get a break in their careers. He is on the governing board of various other NGOs. His contributions to the thinking and operations of the Amulya Jeevan Foundation since its inception, have been far-reaching.

In August 2022, Times NOW conferred on Pramod the award of 'Amazing Indian' for his unparalleled life's work in rehabilitating destitute children.

The Amulya Jeevan Foundation is an organisation that lends a helping hand to the most vulnerable section of the society. Upholding the ideology that every life is precious, AJF reaches out to people in need and distress and supports them. From providing free meals to the hungry, quality education to the poor, healthcare to the needy, livelihood to the downtrodden and shelter to the deserted, AJF tries to bring a qualitative change in the lives of people in distress. AJF has a dedicated team of volunteers who reach out to people far and wide with helping hands and a smile on their faces.
