Middle Level Education

To offer a quality learning experience to students from financially weak backgrounds, residing in a slum in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, The Amulya Jeevan Foundation collaborated with DAYA Foundation, to initiate a bridge learning program for the students of standards V, VI and VII, in November 2021. The program is specially curated to address age-appropriate and class-appropriate learning gaps in children studying in Government schools. DAYA conducted pre-assessments for 50 children from the Khandagiri slum in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and identified learning gaps in Odia, Maths and English. DAYA team tailored a personalized curriculum for every child and they were taught in a dedicated, child-friendly centre at DAYA Foundation. We promoted extracurricular activities and encouraged participation in programs like dancing, singing, art & crafts, and sports (cricket, football). Special celebrations were organized on the occasion of Children's Day, Christmas Day & New Year celebrations, Science Exhibition, National Girl Child Day, Republic Day, Women's Day and World Water Day.

We also conducted special sessions like storytelling, nature and conservation where children planted saplings and gave the plants special names, indoor and outdoor games, cooking without fire, newspaper reading, dental check-ups and health and hygiene. Various competitions like musical chair and poster presentations were also conducted. The idea was to help children learn about the world around them.
