Higher Level Education

To empower young girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, by offering scholarships, mentorship, life skills and vocational training, after the 10th standard, till graduation. The team at AJF reaches out to meritorious and needy students through Principals and teachers of Government schools in Odisha, advertisements in newspapers, and radio announcements. This was done to enable such girl students to complete their higher education and make informed decisions when it comes to their future. This will further help them to work on their personal growth and development and become role models within the community and ambassadors of education in their family and extended circle.

We offer a scholarship of up to Rs 30,000 per annum, along with free mentoring and coaching, which is sanctioned on a reimbursement model.

Who Can Apply

The scholarship is for female students from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal in Odisha belonging to families.

  • who have a gross family income of Rs. 2 lacs per year or less
  • who have a house rent of Rs. 4000 per month or less
  • who have no luxury items like a fridge, air-conditioner, car

The student will be required to qualify for a written test and an interview.

Applicants will be required to submit the following documents:

  • 8th, 9th, 10th mark sheets
  • Aadhar Card
  • Income certificate
  • Rent agreement
  • BPL Card
  • Letter of college admission, fee receipt

Other Relevant Information

  • A Selection Committee will screen all applicants and sanction the scholarship amount based on need and merit. Its decision will be final and binding.
  • Academic doubt clearing classes and peer-to-peer learning to be held periodically under the Foundation's anchorship in addition to English speaking classes.
  • The Big Buddy system would tag one mentor to each merited student.
  • Provision is also made for one-to-one interaction and Counseling sessions with students along with the possibility of tagging students to coaching centers for competitive exams (Engineering/ medical/ CA/ CS).
  • Life skills training is offered for digital literacy, financial literacy, communication skills, problem-solving, creative thinking, health and hygiene, entrepreneurship and start-up ideas.

The year 2022-23 at a glance

This year, the Amulya Jeevan Foundation got in touch with 270 schools in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal, to reach out to meritorious girl students studying in 10th. 466 names were listed in total, of which 397 students were contacted. 186 students out of these qualified for taking the scholarship test. However, 151 students attended the test, which was held at 10 centres in Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Bhubaneswar. 106 students cleared the test, of which house visits of 104 students were done to check their socio-economic conditions. Our team finalized 94 students for the 2022-23 scholarship program. Out of these 94 students, 25 were from Cuttack, 10 were from Bhubaneswar and 59 were from Dhenkanal.

Scholarship Disbursement Program

The Amulya Jeevan Foundation conducted its first scholarship disbursement function on 11th December 2022 at Maharshi Dayanand Service Mission, Gobindpur, Dhenkanal, which was attended by 49 students along with their parents/guardians. The event was honoured by the presence of our chief guest Mr. Brahmanand Rout, BEO, Dhenkanal Sadar and other esteemed guests, such as Mr. Muralidhar Sahoo, Headmaster of Gondia High School, Ms. Sulekha Rout, Headmistress, Ganasinha, Mr. Sanjay Ku Behera, Superintendent of Maharshi Dayanand Service Mission and Mr. Avinash Khemka, Founder of AJF.

The event started at 10 am with the Welcome speech, followed by the lighting of the lamp and introduction of the Jeevan Aakaar Programme by AJF. Our Chief guest and Mr. Avinash Khemka addressed the crowd. Few students and parents also shared their experiences. After the scholarship distribution, we had our oath ceremony. The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks, followed by Lunch.

Mr. Avinash Khemka shared the importance of the scholarship and urged the students to make good use of the opportunity bestowed on them. He also urged the students to stay in touch with AJF and communicate their academic issues and challenges. AJF will try its best in addressing the difficulties of the students.

The second scholarship disbursement function was held on 8th Jan at Cuttack Club. 18 students from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were given scholarships on that day. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Jayanta Ku Panda, Professor of Medicine at SCB Medical College & Hospital. Other guests were Ms. Rashmita Mishra, Centre Head, Mission Zero, Cuttack and Mr. Manoranjan Hota, Branch Head, Padhee Tutorials.

Dr. Jayanta welcomed AJF's initiative to encourage meritorious students especially girls from difficult backgrounds. He encouraged the students to keep working hard and their parents to continue supporting their daughters.
