Blood Donation Camps

Do you know what is the most precious thing that you can gift someone? The answer is hope.

And do you know what is the most beautiful thing about hope? There are a plethora of ways in which you can gift it to someone. Blood donation is one such way, to gift not only hope but life to someone.

Every year, around 5 crore units of blood are needed in our country, but unfortunately, only half of this requirement is met. predominantly owing to the fact that there are a lot of stigmas and misconceptions revolving around blood donation in our country. The problem was further aggravated during the Covid-19 pandemic when most hospitals were falling short of donor blood. Many hospitals tried to contact us as well and that is when we came up with the idea of starting The Amulya Jeevan Foundation Blood Camps under our Jeevan Aarogya initiative.

Our idea was to target the far-flung areas where people don't have the means to donate blood, even if they wish to. The Amulya Jeevan Foundation team not only organized blood camps in such areas but also emphasized raising awareness among the masses. By far, the team has successfully collected 659 units of blood.

Process

Every blood camp is organized in a very systematic manner to optimize the whole process.

The dates are announced by releasing posts on all our social media channels and WhatsApp groups. This is done a week or 10 days prior to the blood camp. This is followed by the registration process where people volunteer to donate blood through a call.

The camp is organised in collaboration with authorised blood collection units/centers like Central Red Cross Blood Bank. The doctors and health workers guide us in conducting the camp with standardised protocols. The camp is organized in a fully ventilated, AC set-up with donor beds. Every donor is given refreshments and lunch along with a gift and certificate as a token of appreciation.

A blood donor card is also given to every donor which can be used for tracking records. We maintain a database of all the donors. After the camp, we take video bytes of all the donors and share them on our social media platforms and the donors.
